Anna Wintour Takes the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Wearing a Dress and Heels

Posted on August 20, 2014

The ALS Ice Bucket challenge has been an amazing success for the ALS Association, which promotes research for finding a cure for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Oprah Winfrey, Taylor Swift, an assortment of tech billionaires from Bill Gates to Mark Zuckerberg and many celebrities have taken the challenge to either donate or dump a bucket of ice water over their heads.

The majority of the celebs taking the challenge have also made cash donations. Some cynics are griping that it's boring now, but we disagree. The trend has raised nearly $23 million for the cause and brought awareness in a way that has engaged people, both young and old.

President Obama declined to dump a bucket of ice water over his head, but he did make a donation, which makes perfect sense. He is the sitting president, after all. But what was really shocking was that Vogue's Anna Wintour took the challenge which was made by her daughter Bee Shaffer, who was challenged by Allison Williams.

Anna took the challenge very seriously: she didn't cheat. She had her hair perfectly coiffed in her trademark bob and she wore a floral sundress and heels. She was outside with a group of young relatives who wanted in on the fun. What's really funny is that the two family dogs are calmly sitting with the family expecting some kind of family photo to be taken. Then the videographer yells "Action!", the water starts flying and the dogs leap away in a flash. There is a lot of screaming. The kids are clearly having a great time. Anna also wrote a check to the charity.

Anna challenged tennis player Roger Federer and British actor Dominic West and his family to take the challenge, warning that they only have 24 hours to get it done. We do hope they do not disappoint Anna. Take a look:
