Duchess of Cambridge Tells Soldier She's Hoping for a Boy and William is Hoping for a Girl
Posted on March 17, 2013The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are known in Ireland as Baron and Lady Carrickfergus, attended the traditional St. Patrick's Day ceremony at Mons Barracks in Aldershot, Hampshire, home of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards. Catherine wore the same green Emilia Wickstead coat that she wore for her first solo appearance last year. She accessorized with black tights, black heels and a black hat. She wore her hair in an updo. It was rainy and cold, but Catherine handed out shamrocks to 40 members of the 1st Battalion and their Irish Wolfhound mascot, Conmael, as has been tradition for a century. At one point, she caught her heel in a grate and William had to prop her up as she laughed, and freed her shoe. The solider kept saluting during the very brief incident.
One soldier reported that after he told the duchess that he missed his little boy when he was a way, he asked her if they knew if they were having a boy or a girl. She said they did not know yet and then volunteered that William wants a girl and she wants a boy. Here's some footage from the event:
