First Annual Kids' Yoga Day is April 8th, 2016

Posted on March 31, 2016

The first annual Kids' Yoga Day will take place on April 8th. Schoolchildren in at least 37 U.S. states and around the world will assume kid-friendly yoga positions including trees, flamingos, windmills and kits from 11 a.m. until 11.05 a.m. Yoga events are being held at schools, libraries and other locations nationwide.

Kids' Yoga Day was envisioned by author Teresa Anne Power. She is also an avid yoga practitioner, teacher and speaker. Powers says yoga is a great way to become fit and she says parents who practice yoga with their children build stronger relationships with them. She also says yoga can help children with ADD and ADHD channel their excess energy.

Power says, "When you both do something healthy and fun, you will get closer."

Power is the author of The ABCs of Yoga for Kids: A Guide for Parents and Teachers. She has a new book coming out on April 8th, The ABCs of Yoga for Kids: A Guide for Parents and Teachers. It is available for purchase on Amazon.com. The website for Kids' Yoga Day can be found at: kidsyogaday.com.
