H&M partnered with the Whitney Museum of American Art and artist Jeff Koons for the opening of its new flagship store on 5th Avenue in New York City. The 57,000 square foot store features marble tile floors and herringbone wood work. It also has a 26' x 20' LED screen.
The Jeff Koons partnership includes a Balloon Dog leather handbag. The original Balloon Dog painting sold for $58.4 million at an auction last year. The Balloon Dog bag will be sold online at hm.com as well starting on July 17.
Koons says in a statement, "The partnership with H&M was really exciting for me and the chance to showcase one of my most popular works to a new generation of people was inspiring. H&M delivers great fashion season after season and it's nice to see my work at their new store."
H&M says the new store is its first store to carry its children's collection. The store is also the first New York H&M store to feature a home department. The flagship is located at 589 5th Avenue, New York, New York 10017.
