McCall Farms See-Through Can

McCall Farms has announced the launch of a see-through vegetable can. The can is pictured above on a Green Lima Beans can for its Glory Farms brand. The cans were recently introduced exclusively at Harris Teeter and Ingles grocery stores in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic states.

Woody Swink, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at McCall Farms, says in a statement, "Our new See-Thru can is the most notable innovation in canned vegetables since canning was invented in the early 1800’s. Consumer testing was tremendous and the response at retail has been terrific. Being able to see the vegetables says 'fresh' but also gives consumers a sense of trust because they can see what they are buying."

The cans use a technology called TruVue plastic that was developed by Sonoco Products. Glory Farms vegetables are made using a slow-cooked process. The line includes seven varieties of canned vegetables: Garbanzo Beans, Pinto Beans, Green Lima Beans, Light Red Kidney Beans, Dark Red Kidney Beans, Great Northern Beans and Blackeye Peas.
