Minted Launches Pop-up Store in San Francisco

Posted on May 20, 2016

Minted has launched its very first bricks-and-mortar store in San Francisco. The pop-up store is called Minted Local. It is located at 222 Grant Avenue in San Francisco's Union Square shopping district. It will be open through October 2016.

The store will feature art, home goods and stationary from Minted's community of independent artists and designers. The store will have a strong focus on the work of regional California artists.

Minted founder and CEO Mariam Naficy says in the announcement, "Our crowdsourcing process -- sourcing from independent artists and allowing people to vote to tell us what to sell -- allows us to surface the best, freshest, and most unique art and design in the world. Now, we bring our consumers closer to these works and the process of creating them with quality."

Minted announced its entry into home decor in August last year. The new store lets shoppers see pillows, table linens, curtains, and other Minted home decor products. It will also display art form independent artists on its walls. Minted will also use the store to test products not available on minted.com, including collaborations with San Francisco makers, original art, and bespoke home decor goods, such as children's teepees and upholstered furniture.

The store also feature a hand-operated letterpress installed in the window. Shoppers can receive a complimentary custom art print letterpressed with their name. Mariam Naficy and Christy Turlington Burns can be seen operating the letterpress in the photo below. The pop-up store also features a Stylist Bar where customers can make appointments to receive Minted's expert help with home decor, holiday cards, birth announcements, and more.
