Oscar Pistorius Vomits Uncontrollably During Graphic Testimony in Court
Posted on March 10, 2014Olympic runner Oscar Pistorius, who is on trial for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, vomited and sobbed uncontrollably during graphic testimony in court today. The pathologist described in detail the three shots Reeva sustained to her head and body. The bullets were hollow points so the damage was horrific. The judge banned live transmission of the testimony by television, audio, twitter, blogging or other means due to the graphic nature of the pathologist's report, but she said reporters could paraphrase the testimony. The first bullet hit Reeva in the head and probably killed her instantaneously said the pathologist, although any of the three bullets could have killed her. She was in a bathroom with the door closed and Pistorius said he thought she was an intruder and shot her by mistake.
Pistorius could not look at the photos of Reeva's dead body and the judge would not allow them to be released. The court removed Pistorius' microphone, according to The Guardian, but the sounds of his crying and gagging could not be ignored. Pistorius covered his head with his hands, rocked back and forth as he wept throughout the proceedings. His siblings comforted him while Reeva's family wept in the gallery. It sounds like a terrible day in court. The AP reports:
