Platinum and Gold Donuts at the Manila Social Club

Posted on August 29, 2016

The Manila Social Club restaurant in Brooklyn is known for its luxury donuts. They include the $100 Gold Donut and the $150 Patron Platinum Donut.

The Platinum Donut was initially launched as a limited donut for Cinco de Mayo. The donut was influenced by the Patron Margarita of The Year, the Rosa Picante. It uses elements of rose, citrus, chili, and ginger. The top of the donut is created by dipping it into an icing of PatrĂ³n Platinum and then air brushing with edible silver powder. Proceeds from the sale of the donut go to the American Cancer Society.

The Golden Donut is made using Cristal Champagne, 24K Gold, and with Ube, a purple sweet yam found in the Philippines. The handmade donut is filled with an Ube mousse and Cristal champagne gelee. It is covered with Cristal champagne icing and then dusted with 24K Pure Gold Dust and gilded with 24K Pure Gold Leaf.

Here is a video from Forbes showing how the Golden Donut is made. Take a look:
