Ray-Ban and Oakley to Make Google Glass Eyewear

Posted on March 26, 2014

Ray-Ban and Oakley will design, develop and distribute eyewear for Google Glass as part of a partnership between Google and Luxottica. Luxottica says the first product collection will combine "high-end technology with avant-garde design." Details about the Glass products will be announced at a future date.

Google Vice President and head of Google X Astro Teller said in a statement, "Luxottica has built an impressive history over the last 50 years designing, manufacturing and distributing some of the most successful and well-known brands in eyewear today. We are thrilled to be partnering with them as we look to push Glass and the broader industry forward into the emerging smart eyewear market."

While Luxottica gave no specifics, a Reuters report says the glasses could arrive in 2015.
