Rumored Apple Siri Speaker to Take on Amazon Echo and Google Home

Posted on May 21, 2017

One of the biggest tech rumors these days is the Apple Siri Speaker. It seems logical that Apple would want to take on the Amazon Echo and Google Home devices and release a smart speaker of its own. It is more surprising that Apple gave its rivals such a head start, especially since Siri has been in the iPhone since the iPhone 4S in 2011. It is time for Siri to no longer be bound to the iPhone and the Mac.

Forbes reports that Apple is expected to follow a cylindrical speaker design for the Siri speaker. It should be expected to have top notch sound and could possibly carry the Beats logo. It should support both AirPlay and Bluetooth. Forbes says rumors indicate Apple is already testing such as a device with Apple employees secretly testing it in their homes.

Macrumors has an extensive feature on the rumored smart speaker. They describe the upcoming product and mention additional features such as facial recognition cameras and a touch panel display.

The widely circulating rumor seems to have been confirmed by a patent for a cylindrical speaker discussed on Apple Insider. The actual reveal by Apple may not be that far away. TechCrunch reports that Apple will unveil the speaker at the WWDC conference, which runs from June 5 through June 9. It will be interesting to see what Apple does to vault their smart speaker ahead of Amazon and Google.
