Samsung Introduces Bendable OLED Smartphone Displays at CES

Samsung displayed its flexible OLED technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The bendable displays are dubbed YOUM by Samsung. Samsung execitove Brian Berkeley first showed off a flexible OLED prototype on thin plastic. The screen is bent nearly all the way back in the demonstration. A flexible bendable display could enable a smartphone that has a large tablet-sized extendable screen. Samsung also demonstrated a smartphone with a display that extends around the side of the display. Forbes reports that the OLED technoloyg could give Samsung the potential to overtake Apple. Forbes also says Samsung is believed to control as much as 90% of the supply of OLED displays. One hurdle Samsung will face is how costly it is for them to manufacture the device. Take a look:
