SNL Pokes Fun at Adult Star Wars Toy Collectors

Posted on December 13, 2015

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters in less than a week, but the toys are already selling out in stores. In this hilarious Saturday Night Live mini film the cast pokes fun at the adult Star Wars collectors, who never even take the awesome toys out of their boxes.

"The force is with us!" shout the kids, while two adult males add, "And us!" The announcer notes that the actions figures are for "ages six and up" while the adults chime in, "way up!!" You can play with them say the kids. "Or leave them in the box and never touch them," say the adults.

One kid exclaims, I have Rey and Finn!! Kyle Mooney (with some epic hair) bursts in to share, "I have three of each. One to display, one to open and one -- just in case." "Why?" asks the kid. Kyle has no answer for him. Bobby Moynihan interrupts one kid playing with Millennium Falcon telling him he's doing it all wrong. He takes the toy away and demonstrates the proper way to land a spaceship.

"Does your wife like toys, too?" one kid asks Taran Killam. This cues some very sad music while Taran stares into space. The fact that he is married to Cobie Smulders of The Avengers in real life just makes it even funnier. At the end Bobby puts all the awesome toys away safely behind a glass case then exclaims "Awesome!!" while the puzzled and dejected boys just stare at the goodies that are now out of reach.
