Stephen Curry Defends Chef Curry Shoes Following Twitter Jokes

Posted on June 12, 2016

Stephen Curry's latest shoes are called the UA Curry Two Low. They are also known as the Chef Curry shoes. They are Curry's latest sneakers in his ongoing deal with Under Armour.

Some Twitter users have been poking fun at the all-white Chef Curry design. ESPN reports that the shoes are meant to be "comfortable and functional, like a chef would wear in a busy kitchen."

The shoes cost $119.99. They look more appealing in the other color styles.

Some Twitter users mocked the shoes as unhip and uncool. Unflattering comparisons have also been made to nurse shoes or shoes a grandparent might wear.

Esquire reports that the Chef Curry is also being dubbed the Seinfeld shoe:

Curry has a good sense of humor. He admitted being amused by some of the Twitter jokes. ESPN says Curry said after the latest Warriors' win, "I love the nicknames they came up with. But I like [the shoes]." Curry also defended the shoes saying, "If I had them in the road bag I would have definitely worn them and showed you how fire they are."

Even if this particular design does not sell it probably won't matter much in the long run for Curry and Under Armour. Strong sales of Curry's shoes have already boosted Under Armour's bottom line and the future looks bright for the collection, especially with Curry and the Warriors continuing their winning ways.
