Stephen Curry's Hot Shoes Boost Revenues for Under Armour

Posted on April 26, 2016

Stephen Curry is currently the most talked about and arguably the best player in the NBA. He shoots three point baskets with incredibly accuracy. His performance on the court is translating to increased demand for his shoes.

Curry has a longterm footwear deal with Under Armour. The shoes include the UA Curry One and UA Curry Two. The UA Curry Two shoe in electric blue is pictured above. An ESPN story reports that Nike lost the first opportunity to sign Curry. It was obviously a huge miss.

The New York Post reports that strong shoe sales are helping Under Armour's bottom line. Curry's shoe is outselling shoes of all other athletes still playing. Curry's shoe is still being outsold by Nike's Air Jordan.

The Post says Curry's Under Armour Two shoes cost $129.99 and are never on sale. Meanwhile, discounts have been seen on shoes of Curry's rivals, like LeBron James who has a deal with Nike.

Curry has a sprained right MCL and will be out for two weeks. The injury comes during the crucial playoff period so it is bad news for Golden State. ESPN reports that it is listed as a Grade 1 sprain so he will recover and be back hitting threes for the Warriors next year.

Here's a video with thousands of Steph Currys from Under Armour called "Rule Yourself."
