The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William Are Expecting Their First Child
Posted on December 3, 2012The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a baby. The palace released the news on their official website. Catherine was admitted to the hospital with a form of severe morning sickness called Hyperemesis Gravidarum that can cause weight loss from all the nausea and vomiting. The official statement says:
"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.
"The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter."
Britain's prime minister David Cameron tweeted, "I'm delighted by the news that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a baby. They will make wonderful parents."
Catherine was just seen playing field hockey at her old school and she didn't look ill, but she must have taken a turn for the worse late last week. She is expected to stay in the hospital for a few days, and it seems likely she will be cutting down on public appearances quite a bit.
