Penelope Cruz in Pierre Balmain at 2009 Oscars

Best Supporting Actress winner Penelope Cruz looked like a beautiful princess in her stunning 60 year-old vintage white Pierre Balmain gown which Tim Gunn recognized immediately. He said the beautiful, handmade gown was actually a museum-quality piece. It really is a piece of fashion art. The gown featured gold embroidery and netting overlay over yards and yards of silk and tulle, with a fitted strapless bodice. Penelope said she bought the gown eight years ago and has been saving it ever since for a really special occasion. Penelope accessorized with close to $3 million worth of Chopard diamonds, including a stunning 69-carat diamond necklace, a beautiful diamond bracelet, large solitaire diamond earrings and a knockout canary diamond solitaire ring. It was a lot of jewelry, but that kind of a dress really demands some major jewels. She carried a Judith Leiber gold clutch.

Here's a close-up of Penelope's stunning Chopard 69-carat diamond necklace. This is a necklace fit for a queen: it's just stunning.
