2010 Oscars: Carey Mulligan's Diamond Earrings
Posted on March 10, 2010
Carey Mulligan wore some fabulous vintage diamonds at the Oscars. These statement earrings are by Fred Leighton. The Cascading Diamond and Diamond Briolette Earrings were made in the 19th century. Vintage diamonds will never sparkle as much as modern diamonds, because they were cut by hand instead of a computer-guided laser after being analyzed by a sophisticated software program, but they have a charm all their own.
The earrings were a bold and interesting choice which contrasted nicely with Carey's very modern Prada couture black gown, which featured tiny watch gears, forks and knives sewn on the bodice and skirt. Carey's styling reflects a youthful, fun sensibility and a subtle sense of humor.
