2011 Golden Globes: Michelle Williams
Posted on January 17, 2011
Michelle Williams, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama for her role in Blue Valentine, took a fashion risk at the 2011 Golden Globes. Michelle donned a Valentino gown which featured three dimensional floral details on the shoulder straps and large painted white daisies on the bodice and chiffon skirt.
The shape of the gown was lovely and the concept would have worked well for a spring evening event, perhaps held outdoors. But it really looked too Florida for the January Golden Globes (although in all fairness it was over 80 degrees on the red carpet so it probably seemed like Miami). The beige color really didn't do much for Michelle's lovely complexion. But if they had made the gown in a bright color, say fuchsia or turquoise, we would have been in Lily Pulitzer territory (not that there's anything wrong with that -- at the correct venue).
She accessorized with teeny, tiny diamond ear studs and a Tahitian pearl ring by Fred Leighton. Her heels were by Christian Louboutin.
