2012 Swarovski Star Sits Atop Rockefeller Christmas Tree

Swarovski designed the enormous star that sits atop the 80-foot-high Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. The 2012 Swarovski Star weighs 550 pounds and is comprised of 25,000 crystals. It measures 9.5 feet in diameter and is 1.5 feet deep.
The 80th Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 28th, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. The two-hour ceremony will be televised live, locally on WNBC-TV from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. and nationally on NBC from 8 p.m.-9 p.m. You can find out more about the lighting ceremony here.
Swarovski is selling an ornament inspired by the design of the star on its website. The 2012 Swarovski Christmas Ornament costs $75.
