Rosario Dawson in the Purple Purse campaign

The Allstate Foundation and Rosario Dawson have partnered for the Purple Purse campaign which helps raise awareness of domestic abuse. The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse campaign has pledged to donate up to $350,000 to the YWCA for programs that help domestic violence survivors.

Rosario says in a release, "As an advocate to end violence against women, I have come to learn that the shame surrounding domestic violence is a barrier to talking about the issue. Purple Purse provides victims and those who support the cause with information and resources they need to take the necessary actions to break the vicious cycle with confidence."

Over a thousand purple purses containing information about domestic violence were distributed throughout the U.S. for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Allstate Foundation will donate $5 each time a purse is checked-in at PurplePurse.com. Every time a virtual purple purse is shared on the Purple Purse Facebook page, The Allstate Foundation will also donate $5 to the YWCA.
