Amazon Launches 3D Printers Online Store

Posted on June 14, 2013

ZDNet reports that Amazon.com has launched a store for 3D printers. 3D printers have been slowly becoming a more mainstream consumer item, but the price is still too high for them to go mass market. They are currently primarily used by businesses and hobbyists. Staples become the first major big box retailer to carry a 3D printer when it started carrying the Cube 3D printer for $1299.99 in May.

Amazon.com's online 3D printer store can be found here. The store includes 3D printers, 3D printer filaments, parts and accessories, books and software. The store is part of Amazon.com's Industrial and Scientific department, so Amazon hasn't made the decision to put it its consumer electronics area just yet. Some of the 3D printer brands carried include Afinia, Cubifym FlashForge and MarketBot. Prices for the 3D printers range from $1,100 to $3,000. The FlashForge 3D printer is pictured below.
