Amazon Launches Echo Look Camera and Style Assistant

Posted on April 27, 2017

Amazon has launched a new Echo device that utilizes its Alexa voice technology. The new Echo Look contains an embedded camera that operates hands-free and is voice activated. Amazon indicates the device could be useful to people deciding what to wear and checking their personal style with the new device. Photos taken with Echo Look could also be shared on social media.

Echo Look is designed to take full-length photographs and video. A companion app allows you to view yourself and your outfit from every angle. In a way, Amazon is looking to replace the mirror with the device. You can also create a personal lookbook of your daily outfits.

The Echo Look has built-in LED lightning and background blur. The camera has depth-sensing technology. Amazon is also providing a service called Style Check that combines machine-learning algorithms with advice from fashion specialists to provide fashion advice.

Here is Amazon's video showing how Echo Look works. There is big potential here - fashionistas could become obsessed with a device that quickly provides them with multiple views so they can analyze their outfits from every possible angle. Why shouldn't every woman have their own fashion studio? It also gives people who love taking and sharing selfies a lot more options. Take a look:
