Amazon has launched its new Kindle Fire HDX tablets. The HDX comes in a 7-inch and 8.9-inch version. Prices for the 7-inch start at $299 for the 16 GB version and prices for the 8.9-inch start at $379 for a 16 GB device.
The new tablets feature 2.2 GHz quad-core quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. The 7-inch tablet has a 1920x1200 at 323 ppi display and the 8.9-inch has a 2560x1600 at 339 ppi screen. Amazon says the HDX's new Adreno 330 graphics engine improves game play on the new Kindles. The Kindles are powered by Mojito, the Fire OS 3.0 version of Amazon's modified Android operating system.
Both the 7-inch and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX feature a front-facing HD camera. The 8.9-inch has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. The Kindles feature dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio and 5.1 multi-channel surround sound.
The new tablets also features what Amazon calls the Mayday Button. When you press the button an Amazon expert will appear on your screen to help you.
