Angelina Jolie, Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer Walk the Red Carpet for The Normal Heart Premiere

The stars came out for the permiere of the HBO film The Normal Heart at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City. The film is based on the play about a gay activist and a New York Times reporter who are involved in the early days of raising awareness of HIV/AIDS in the 1980s. Ryan Murphy directed the film which was co-produced by Brad Pitt.

Angelina Jolie walked the red carpet in a black strapless cocktail dress by Saint Laurent. She was accompanied by Brad Pitt. Stars Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch and Jim Parsons also attended the premiere. Matt Bomer said he read the play when he was 14 years old, and he hopes uoung poeole will see this to see the generation they owe their civil rights to.

Jim Parsons played the same role on Broadway that he plays in the movie and said the hardest part was the first couple of days of shooting as he had to get used to new people in all the other parts. After that it was "a sheer pleasure."

Angelina spoke briefly to reporters and said she wouldn't have missed the premiere of such an important film.
