Asus Launches 7-inch Fonepad

Asus Fonepad

Asus announced the launch of Fonepad - a 7-inch tablet and phone - at the Mobile World Congress. The Fonepad is powered by an Intel Atom Z2420 processor with 1GB of RAM and the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. It features a 1280 x800 HD 10-point multi-touch screen. Other features include 3G phone, 8GB or 16GB storage, SD cart slot and front 1.2-megapixel and rear 3-megapixel cameras. The light Fonepad weighs 340 grams and is 10.4mm thick.

ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih said in a statement, "It is ideal to have a larger screen with entertainment, social media and other online activities now playing an increasingly important part in our mobile lifestyles. The incorporation of 3G mobile data with full telephony support, makes the Fonepadô the perfect combination of a tablet and phone in one single device."

The Fonepad will first arrive in Europe. A U.S. release date has not been announced.
