Avegant Unveils Glyph Headset at 2015 CES

Avegant unveiled its Glyph virtual reality headset at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. The headset resembles a pair of stylish high-end headphones. Avegant says the final product will be released later this year.

The Glyph headset has a micromirror array display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It has a WXGA (1280 x 720) per eye resolution. They have a 3-hour battery life. The connections on the headset include an HDMI connection, microUSB and Bluetooth or 3.5 mm TRRS jack for audio.

Re/code reports that Avegant has raised $10.9 million to develop its "personal theater" headset through Kickstarter and a fundraising round. The Glyph costs $499 through a pre-order. It will retail for $599 when it launches later this fall.
