Best Buy Releases List of 2012 Store Closings

Best Buy announced plans at the end of last month to close 50 of its big box U.S. stores. The retailer says so far it has closed two stores this year: one in Kansas City, Mo., and one in Scottsdale, Ariz. Best Buy has also notified five Twin Cities stores and one San Antonio store that they will close later this year.
Today, Best Buy released a list of the remaining 42 store locations that will close. Best Buy said in a statement, "This was not an easy decision to make. We chose these stores carefully, and are working to ensure the impact to our employees will be as minimal as possible, while serving all customers in a convenient and satisfying way. But we also recognize the impact this news has on the people who deserve respect for the contributions they have made to our business."
Best Buy says it will close most of the stores by May 12. The include locations in Arizona (2), California (7), Colorado (1), Florida (2), Georgia (2), Illinois (6), Kansas (1), Massachusetts (2), Maryland (2), Maine (1), Minnesota (6), Missouri (1), North Carolina (2), Nebraska (1), New York (1), Ohio (2), Puerto Rico (1), Rhode Island (1), Tennessee (1), Texas (2), Virgina (3) and Washington (1).
