Mariah Carey covers Billboard magazine, talks 14th album

Billboard says Mariah Carey is planning a Beyonce-style album launch. Mariah covers the latest issue of the magazine. In the cover story, Billboard says Mariah will her new album's title, track listing, artwork and music all at once. Beyonce also released a lot of music video teasers at once when she surprised everyone with a new album last December. It is not clear if Mariah is also planning to do that.

Mariah tells Billboard, "I have to be the one that announces this, especially the title."

This will be Mariah's 14th album. Billboard says Mariah has a team of collaborators for the album, including Rodney Jerkins and Dupri.

Mariah also says, "You would think I would be all about the singles-driven situation, and I am in a way, but with this particular album I want my fans to hear it as a body of work. This is my life since we last left off. Just picture a dot dot dot, and then here's the album."

It does seem like Mariah liked Beyonce's method of putting it mostly all out there at once so fans will be hit with the album as a whole, instead of single by single. A downside to this type of release is you lose some of the publicity benefit available through staggered song releases.

Mariah also told Billboard that this will not be her last album. She also revealed that she is working on a new reality-competition venture.
