Great Britain's Advertising Standards Authority has banned this ad in Britain because it is "irresponsible" and showed a child in danger. The ad shows 14 year old, Oscar nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld wearing Miu Miu, sitting on a deserted train track, wiping a tear from her eye.

Prada has vehemently protested the decision, saying that the campaign is "part of a serious, high-fashion campaign [that is] based on the set of an imaginary film". The campaign was shot by Bruce Weber. Prada invoked what we like to think of as the Heroine Tied to a Train Track Defense. Prada noted that, unlike various damsels in distress from the silent film era, Hailee is not in any danger and that she "could have easily moved from where she was sitting because she was not restrained in any way."

This all seems ridiculous to us. It's an interesting ad that evokes the Perils of Pauline, but with a modern twist. Why is she crying? Where is the mustachioed villain? We say: let Hailee sit on the tracks.
