CNN reports that Citibank is raising checking account fees.
Here are some highlights of the new fees:
- Customers with mid-level Citibank accounts will be assessed a $20 fee if they do not maintain a minimum balance of $15,000 or more. Previously, customers only had to carry a minimum balance of $6,000 to avoid a fee.
- EZ Checking account customers will be charged $15 a month if they do not carry a balance of at least $6,000.
- Basic Banking account customers will need to maintain a balance of $1,500 - or make one direct deposit and one automatic online payment per month - to avoid a $10 fee.
