Consumers Plan to Reduce Restaurant Spending in Months Ahead
Posted on October 10, 2010A new Harris Poll has bad news for restaurant owners. It indicates that many consumers plan to cut restaurant spending. 66% of respondents said they likely would decrease their spending at restaurants. This a slight increase from 64% from a May poll. 62% also said they plan to reduce spending on entertainment.
Some families on tight budgets because of the weak recession may have decided reducing restaurant spending by cooking at home is a good way to save money.
Harris Poll officials said the poll is "further evidence that the economy is stuck in a rut and things are unlikely to improve very soon."
