Consumers Plan to Reduce Restaurant Spending in Months Ahead

A new Harris Poll has bad news for restaurant owners. It indicates that many consumers plan to cut restaurant spending. 66% of respondents said they likely would decrease their spending at restaurants. This a slight increase from 64% from a May poll. 62% also said they plan to reduce spending on entertainment.
Some families on tight budgets because of the weak recession may have decided reducing restaurant spending by cooking at home is a good way to save money.
Harris Poll officials said the poll is "further evidence that the economy is stuck in a rut and things are unlikely to improve very soon."
