Dish Networks Plans Additional Blockbuster Store Closings
Posted on January 13, 2012Reuters is reporting that Dish Network is planning to close more stores than it planned when it acquired Blockbuster. Blockbuster said it would keep 1,500 stores open when it acquired the struggling movie rental company. This number appears to have been overly optimistic. Dish will now keep less than 1,500 stores.
The exact number of Blockbuster stores that will remain is not known. Dish CEO Joe Clayton told Reuters they will keep profitable stores open and close unprofitable stores, but he did not give any figures.
