Dutch Companies Develop Carpet That Provides a Digital Display

Two Dutch companies - Desso and Philips - have collaborated to develop a carpet that features LED lights and a digital display. A German newspaper is currently using the carpet to scroll news headlines on the floor. More practical uses for the carpet in an office could be to point the way to a fire exit or provide navigation helps. The carpet has many other uses. The LED lights on the carpet guide people in dark rooms at hotels. It could also be used in airports to help lost travelers find the right terminal. On the downside side, carpets with digital displays will almost certainly be used to annoy people with ads. Even worse, if these digital carpets get hacked there could be carpet spam. Take a look:
