Elizabeth Hurley and the Tiny Bikini
Posted on April 19, 2005Elizabeth Hurley debuted her new beach collection, which will be sold at Harrod's in Britain and at Saks 5th Avenue in the U.S. Elizabeth Hurley Beach has been the personal project of the actress, who was involved in every detail of the process. There are 21 pieces, including sarongs, sexy little tops, skirts, beach bags, sunhats, pants and caftans, as well as bikinis and swimsuits. Ms. Hurley sells her bikinis separately, so that you can buy each piece in a different size if need be (she does). But don't look for any thongs. The designer writes in the May Harper's Bazaar, "I hope it goes without saying that thongs are hideous on everyone, except maybe pubescent Brazilian girls."
Many of the pieces in the collection features intricate hand-beaded details, which have been embroidered in India, and some of the pieces have semi-precious stones, like amethyst and tiger's eye. We like the "buy the top and bottom separately" idea and we do love an actress who writes funny articles about the horrors of buying a swimsuit, but we think those with amethysts on their bikinis would do well to stay out of the water.
