Most Popular Baby Names for 2015

The U.S> Social Security agency has reported on the most popular baby names for 2015. Noah was the most popular boy's name for the third straight year. Emma was the most popular girl's name for the second straight year. Two new names made the top ten list this year - Benjamin and Harper.

Liam came in second in names for boys, followed by Mason, Jacob, William, Ethan, James, Alexander, Michael and Benjamin. Olivia was the second most popular choice for baby girls, followed by Sophia, Ava, Isabella, Mia, Abigail, Emily, Charlotte and Harper.

The Agency also revealed that the winners for biggest jump in popularity in the Top 1,000 are Alaia and Riaan. Alaia jumped 2,012 spots on the girls' side to number 664, from number 2,676 in 2014. Riaan increased 1,360 spots for the boys, from number 2,286 in 2014 to number 926.

Meilani was the second fastest rising name for girls. The Agency notes that Jenni Farley of Jersey Shore fame has a daughter named Meilani. There is also the famous surfer, Bethany Meilani Hamilton.

Some other names bursting in popularity include Omari and Jabari for boys and Adaline and Zelda for girls. You can find more information on baby names here on the ssa.gov website.
