Frank Ocean Decides Not to Press Charges for Assault Against Chris Brown

Posted on February 2, 2013

Singer Frank Ocean has apparently decided not to press charges for assault and battery against Chris Brown and two guys jumped Ocean and began beating him up in the parking garage of a West Hollywood recording studio. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials said that Brown was a suspect in the beating and that Ocean was going to press charges. But something changed -- or someone got to Ocean.

Frank posted these words on his Tumblr: "As a child I thought if someone jumped me. it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man. But as a man I am not a killer. I'm an artist and a modern person. I'll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace."

We admire Frank's decision to take the high road. Unfortunately, Chris Brown really needs to suffer the consequences of his actions. All this will do is enforce his worldview that he can do anything he wants, hurt anyone he wants and he'll get away with it because he's "special" somehow and that the rules don't apply to him. It's only a matter of time before he hurts someone else. And that is why we wish Frank Ocean were pressing charges.
