Gas Prices Creep Closer to $4 a Gallon

Posted on May 2, 2011

The nationwide average gas price continues to edge closer to $4 a gallon. The AAA's Fuel Gauge Report, located here, lists the average national price per gallon for regular gas at $3.952, which is about 7 cents higher than last week. The Energy Department's weekly survey of service stations has the average a little higher at $3.963.

The L.A. Times reports that the devastating tornado outbreak in the South last week is partly to blame for the recent uptick in prices. Seven refineries were temporarily shut down because of the tornadoes.
