High School Student Suspended for Asking Miss America to Prom

Nina Davuluri was crowned Miss America 2014 last September. She was speaking at Central York High School in Pennsylvania when she was asked to prom by a student. During a question-and-answer session Patrick Farves, a senior at the school, approached Nina with a flower and asked her to the prom. Patrick was then suspended by the school for three days. CBS Evening News reports that there was Twitter outrage at the decision the school made to suspend the smitten boy. The school had got wind of Farves' plan. They said they told Farves not to ask Miss American to prom, but he didn't listen to them. The school will still let Farves attend prom, but his date won't be Miss America. She is believed to have said "No," although Time says the student body was cheering so loudly it drowned out Nina's response. Take a look:
