Hillary Clinton Being Treated for Blood Clot Between Brain and Skull, No Stroke or Brain Damage

Posted on December 31, 2012

Hillary Clinton's doctors just released an updated statement about her health. The doctors say that the Secretary of State has a blood clot "in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear." The statement says that there has been no neurological damage and that she has not had a stroke. The blood thinning medication is still being administered, and it must be working for them to issue such a statement.

Here is the full statement from her doctors:

"In the course of a routine follow-up MRI on Sunday, the scan revealed that a right transverse sinus venous thrombosis had formed. This is a clot in the vein that is situated in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear. It did not result in a stroke, or neurological damage. To help dissolve this clot, her medical team began treating the Secretary with blood thinners. She will be released once the medication dose has been established. In all other aspects of her recovery, the Secretary is making excellent progress and we are confident she will make a full recovery. She is in good spirits, engaging with her doctors, her family, and her staff."

The speculation over Hillary's health had reached nearly hysterical proportions since yesterday's announcement that she as admitted to the hospital. Now we know the clot is not in the brain. But it's still a dangerous situation. Clearly the fall she took when she had the stomach virus was pretty bad. We hope she has a speedy recovery now that they know exactly what is wrong, and how to treat it.
