Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will have to undergo elbow surgery next week to repair damage done by a fall she took in the garage of the State Department when she was on her way to meet President Obama. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters that the surgery date will be scheduled in the coming week.

The Daily News reports that Crowley said Clinton fell in the basement garage of the State Department and broke her elbow.
Crowley said Clinton was walking toward her official vehicle in the State Department's basement garage when she fell about 5 p.m. Wednesday. At the time, she and Richard Holbrooke, the administration's coordinator of policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan, were headed to a meeting at the White House.

After the fall, Clinton was examined in her office and then taken to The George Washington University Hospital, just a few blocks away, where her right elbow was X-rayed, Crowley said. He said he did not believe it was a severe fracture, but that he did not know the exact extent of her injury. She returned to her home at about 10 p.m.
President Obama was the first to call Hillary at home that night to inquire about her condition and send his regards. Hillary issued a statement saying she is deeply appreciative of the care she got at the hospital and for all the get well calls she's been getting from all over the world.

Elbow surgery is not going to be any fun at all. We wish her a speedy recovery.
