Idina Menzel Releases Christmas Album Called Holiday Wishes

Posted on October 21, 2014

Tony award winning actress Idina Menzel has released her new Christmas album called Holiday Wishes. She has already been to one signing for the album at a Barnes & Noble. Idina is best known for her Frozen hit, "Let It Go!"

It isn't that unusual for Christmas albums to be released well ahead of the holidays, but Idina thinks October 14th is too early. She told Time in an interview, "The album comes out October 14. I think that's ridiculous! I don't understand. I've been asking the label to tell me why. Apparently that's when people start buying stuff for Christmas."

Idina added that she has only just started getting ready for Halloween with her son. He is going to dress up as Toothless. Idina, who is Jewish, also told Time she celebrates both both Hanukkah and Christmas. She also said, "If Barbra Streisand can make a Christmas album, I can."

Holiday Wishes contains 12 holiday songs. Some of the Christmas classics on the album include "Do You Hear What I Hear, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Silent Night" and "White Christmas." It also includes "December Prayer," which is an original song written by Idina. Idina also sings "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Michael Buble. Buble had a successful Christmas album of his own, Christmas, released in 2011.

Idina released the following trailer for her new album. The songs all sound great, especially the duet with Buble. Buble shows up in a suit and a smile near the 1 minute mark. Idina wears a white winter coat. Take a look:

There is a deluxe version available at Target that includes two additional tracks.
