J.C. Penney Exits Catalogs

Posted on October 1, 2010

Multichannel Merchant reports that J.C. Penney is completely exiting the mail order catalog business. The retailer ceased sending its twice-yearly Big Book catalogs in 2009.

JCPenney will not stop mailings to customers. They are going to switch from catalogs to look books. Multichannel says these look books will be targeted to customers interested in specific categories. They will contain photographs and information about products, but they will not contain catalog item numbers or prices.
