El Chavo Doll

Jakks Pacific announced it has partnered with Univision to create a line of El Chavo toys and we expect it will be popular based on the incredible reach of El Chavo. El Chavo was the most-watched comedy sitcom in Mexican history when it aired during the 70s and 80s. The Wikipedia entry says the show received a staggering 350 million viewers worldwide during its peak in the mid-1970s. The series has remained popular since it stopped created new episodes in 1992. Forbes reports that El Chavo still gets 91 million daily viewers even though new episodes have not been made in over 20 years.

Univision created an animated version of the sitcom, El Chavo Animado, in 2006. It airs on the Univision Network on Sundays at 4 p.m. ET/PT.
