Yesterday, Beyonce shared happy photos of her and her sister Solange on Instagram. Today, Jay Z, Solange and Beyonce issued a joint statement over the elevator fight which was captured on security footage at the Standard Hotel in New York City following the Met gala. Solange can be seen punching and kicking Jay Z in the video. The three issued the following statement to The Associated Press:
"As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."The statement also dispels rumors that Solange was inebriated, but it gives no explanation for the fight. It also says Solange was not "displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening" as some rumors have suggested.
The joint statement also says, "At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same."
Three three do acknowledge there has been "a great deal of speculation" for what triggered it. One of the rumors is that Solange was angry at Jay Z for cheating on Beyonce. Designer Rachel Roy's name has come up in some of the rumors. The Standard hotel has since fired the leaker of the video, which viraled around the Internet and became a top news story. Overall the statement did not explain at all what the elevator fight was about but it does seem to make it clear that it was not Solange's fault.
