Jim Parson's Opening Monologue on Saturday Night Live

Posted on March 2, 2014

Jim Parsons hosted Saturday Night Live and did his best to put Dr. Sheldon Cooper behind him. In his monologue Jim sings about not being "that guy" that he plays on TV. He says he doesn't speak Klingon and that he's just a regular guy, not a Star Trek superfan. He is then joined by other classic TV characters who bemoan their fate of always being typecast as the same kind of character. Jim sings about Steve Urkel (Jay Pharoah), a nerd who helped '90s evenings pass, but "Jaleel White, he's a full-grown man who could probably kick your ass." He continued, "Jason Alexander, now and always George Costanza (Bobby Moynihan). But did you know he won a Tony because he could sing and danza?" Taran Killam pulled out a Henry Winkler as the Fonz impersonation and Kenan Thompson took on Bill Cosbym the only character who is just like his character on TV. Kate McKinnon did a wonderfully weird turn as Angela Lansbury, who apparently is a notorious bank robber when she's not playing sleuth Jessica Fletcher. Take a look:
