Jon Hamm Doubles Down on Kim Kardashian Comments

Matt Lauer chatted with Mad Men stars Jon Hamm, January Jones, Jared Harris, John Slattery, Vincent Kartheiser, Kiernan Shipka and creator Matthew Weiner on The Today Show. The show has its two hour premiere this Sunday night on HBO.

The cast discussed the lengthy hiatus between seasons, what they think the show is really about and why people love it so much.

Then Matt asks Jon Hamm about his comments about Kim Kardashian in which he said, "Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f***ing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly."

Kim replied to Jon saying, "Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, 'stupid,' is in my opinion careless."

Jon didn't back down on his original opinion. He said his comments were not careless saying: "I think they were accurate. It's a part of our culture that I certainly don't identify with, and I certainly don't understand the appeal of it other than in a sort of car-crash sensibility, and it's not something I partake in or enjoy."

In another interview, Jon said that his comments weren't personal. He was apparently referring to the whole "reality show/famous for doing stupid things" phenomenon. Vincent Kartheiser said he agreed with Jon. So...feud on?
