Julianne Hough Redbook August 2014 cover

Julianne Hough covers the August 2014 issue of Redbook magazine. She's wearing a multicolored floral skirt with a white top on the cover. He hair is cut short. Julianne can be seen using her dancer skills in some dramatic jumping and leaping photographs from the Redbook cover shoot.

In the interview, Julianne reveals that there was "nothing right" with her relationship with Ryan Seacrest. She says, "Every relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right. I had one foot out because I didn’t want to get hurt. And I didn't say what was on my mind because I didn’t want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect."

Julianne says she took a six-day seminar last year after her relationship with Seacrest. She says the seminar about creating your own destiny helped change her outlook on relationships. She doesn't mention the name of the seminar. She says, "I was not into it at first, but I learned so much about myself and why my relationships didn't work that by the end I was on a high."

Julianne starred in the film, Paradise, which was released late last year. It is written and directed by Diablo Cody. Julianne says she developed a bond with Diablo. She says, "She might be a badass, but she's also the biggest softie. I think that's why we bonded, because we both felt like we had to [seem] tough. Today, girls have to be strong and powerful. I'm a feminist; I believe that we should all be equal. But there's a difference between finding power in being feminine and putting on a fake masculine front."
