It's official: Katy Perry will perform during half time at the 2015 Super Bowl XLIX. Katy made a promo with sponsor Pepsi hyping her performance.

Katy struts into a giant hangar wearing a pink and blue space suit and helmet. She removes the helmet and welcomes fans to her halftime show testing facility. Katy examines some of the ideas for the show that they are testing out in lab conditions. She says, "I've got some insane ideas...Like what if we covered the whole stadium in glitter, but the glitter was edible." She waves her hand over the 3D mockup and moves on to the next idea.

She says she has a time machine for some special guest stars and we see the back of some rocker inside a plastic tube. She has a special drum solo machine in which a robot plays the drums while Katy works the controls. That one didn't go so well. She is also considering using a magical animal that she bought online. But she scratched the idea when it turns out it was a unicorn instead of a Pegasus.

Technicians had rigged a crash test dummy to ride a shark which is breathing fire. But Katy nixed that one telling the techs, "It just doesn't feel dangerous enough." She is considering having adorable Himalayan kittens perform, but will need like 1,000 more of them.

Only one of these ideas frightens us -- the time machine. We feel like this might be the one real thing. We only hope whoever they drag out of retirement doesn't drag down the show. Or perhaps she's just making fun of some of the acts from years past? We'll see in January. In any event, we feel sure she'll do a great job. Katy is used to performing live in huge venues -- that is a key for Super Bowl success. Here's the promo:
