Madagascar 3, Prometheus Retain Hold Atop Box Office

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted and Prometheus held on to the top spots in theaters this weekend. Madagascar 3 finished #1 for the second consecutive weekend, adding $35.5 million to its bring its total gross to $120 million. Prometheus made another $20 million and finished second. The star studded Rock of Ages opened in third. It did not perform well and only made $15 million during its opening weekend despite appearing in nearly 3,500 theaters. That's My Boy, starring Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg, also underperformed. It opened in fifth and made just $13 million. You can see the complete box office report here.
