Posted on August 18, 2009

There will soon be lines for Magnolia's coveted cupcakes in Los Angeles. Nation's Restaurant News reports that New York based Magnolia Bakery is expanding to L.A. The L.A. location of Magnolia Bakery will open this fall. This will be the first location for the cupcake company outside of New York City.
Magnolia Bakery was founded in New York's Greenwich Village in 1996 by Jennifer Appel and Allysa Torey. The company was bought in 2006 by Steve and Tyra Abrams.

Some contend that Magnolia Bakery was Ground Zero for the gourmet cupcake craze that has spawned cupcake outlets in most major cities, including chains such as Sprinkles - which has a loyal following in Los Angeles - and Crumbs.
Update: The location of the L.A. Magnolia store is 8389 West 3rd Street at Orlando St.
